Our Team

Our Team — the people behind nearly five decades of care

A hospital is its people. Machines can be bought and buildings painted, but the confidence families feel the moment they walk through our doors comes from the doctors, nurses and staff who have chosen to spend their careers here in Bokaro Steel City. This page introduces the team that patients meet; our About Us page tells the fuller story of how the hospital began.

Dr. K. K. Das — Founder & Chief Surgeon

Founder of Surgy Centre in 1977, Dr. Das has spent nearly five decades operating in Bokaro Steel City and is known across the district as a surgeon who explains everything twice, charges exactly what was quoted, and answers his phone for old patients. His special interests are laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, breast surgery and emergency abdominal surgery. Generations of families — some now bringing their grandchildren — still ask for him by name.

Dr. Kaushik Das — Chief Surgeon & Managing Director

Continuing the family tradition, Dr. Kaushik Das leads the surgical team today, with advanced training in minimally invasive surgery. He heads the operation theatres, runs the surgical OPD daily, and personally reviews every major case with the family before surgery. Under his leadership the hospital has expanded its laparoscopic workload, formalised its ICU and NICU protocols, and taken the hospital’s NABH-alignment programme forward.

Obstetrics & Gynaecology team

Our gynaecology and obstetrics consultants manage the full spectrum of women’s health — antenatal care, normal deliveries, caesarean sections, high-risk pregnancies, and the gynaecological surgical list from keyhole hysterectomy to emergency ectopic pregnancy operations. Consultant OPD runs daily; the labour room is staffed round the clock.

Paediatrics & Neonatology

Our paediatric team runs the NICU and paediatric ward — phototherapy for jaundice, feeding support for preterm babies, and the child-health OPD that Bokaro families have relied on for decades. The kangaroo-mother-care programme trains mothers to keep small babies warm and thriving.

Laboratory & Diagnostics

Registered technicians staff our in-house laboratory across biochemistry, haematology, pathology and serology benches, with the ultrasound suite alongside. Same-day reporting is the standard the team is proud of — because a report that arrives late is a decision delayed.

Nursing team

The largest team in the hospital and, in our patients’ own words, the face of Surgy Centre. Our nurses handle the wards, labour room, OT and NICU on 24×7 rosters, and are trained in-house on infection control, partograph-based labour monitoring and emergency drills. Many have served here for over a decade — a stability patients can feel.

Support services

Pharmacy, front office, housekeeping, security, kitchen and ambulance crews complete the circle of care. They are the reason a night-shift family finds a clean bed, a warm meal and a working stretcher at 3 AM. Our support services page describes each function.
